Codename: RCRDS continue a new trilogy of Various Artist releases with Distant Memories EP, which sees the label bring together a selection of the finest talents in the Atmospheric DnB scene.

The EP opens with label newcomer Microcosm who brings us ‘Journey Of A Thousand Miles’ a beautiful driving atmospheric jungle roller, full of warped bass and lush strings and pads.

Another label debutant, fast-rising TRC2, moves things into a darker direction with ‘There Is a Flame’, an ominous techy roller built for the dancefloor and the head with its intricately programmed breaks and distorted bass tones.

Things continue with Codename favourite NonRev delivering ‘As We Are’, where ominous siren-esque tones meet snappy rolling breaks and his trademark lush production. This prolific producer continues to be one to watch.

The EP closes with a typically gorgeous roller from the inimitable Okee, interspersing catchy vocals with fresh strings and gorgeous keys and synth tones, to close this second part of the ‘Distant’ series on a high.

Suburban Architecture crew gets better with every release, this is my fave so far. Hard to pick a favourite, all killer no filler. Unwound is the perfect early night starter tune. Renegade Horns is an absolute classic in the tradition of Moving Shadow, early Metalheadz, Good Looking etc. Footprints is a wonderful yearning atmospheric grower with surprising excellent use of guitar... but Solar Winds is just all of everything.
