After a brief pause Codename: RCRDS return with the second part of our ‘Broken’ trilogy, bringing together a selection of newcomers to the label. Separated by geography but united by the rhythms of jungle and drumfunk, the release takes to four different corners of the genre as we move between darkness and light, playfulness and intensity over the course of the release to discover the Broken Tribes.

The EP opens with Brownsville’s breakbeat maestro Krugah, with ‘Simple Ting’ providing a stunning example of his unique and creative style. Marvel Cinema joins the fray with ‘Endless Energy’, full of frantic drum edits which provide a counterpoint to the dreamy house-inflected vocals and pads. The 2nd half of the EP moves into a darker direction with Jack Rapture’s amen choppage skills at the fore on the deep and introspective ‘Why Are We Here?’, before E.B.S. closes the release with the intense ‘Aftermath’, interspersing dark distorted bass tones and dubwise vocals with tearing amens and moody synths.
